Key point: Darkmatter is XMR-ONLY. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are NOT accepted. Monero provides true privacy through ring signatures, stealth addresses, and RingCT.

Why Monero is Required

Bitcoin is NOT private: Every BTC transaction is permanently recorded on a public blockchain. Chain analysis companies track darknet purchases and share data with law enforcement.

Monero solves this:

  • Ring Signatures: Your transaction is mixed with decoys (impossible to trace sender)
  • Stealth Addresses: Recipient address is hidden (one-time addresses for each transaction)
  • RingCT: Transaction amounts are encrypted (nobody sees how much you sent)
  • No blockchain analysis: All transactions are private by default

Acquiring Monero Safely (No KYC)

AVOID exchanges requiring ID: Coinbase, Kraken, Binance link your identity to XMR purchases.

Safe Methods:

  1. LocalMonero.co: P2P marketplace, buy XMR with cash, bank transfer, or gift cards (no ID required)
  2. Bisq: Decentralized exchange, fully anonymous
  3. Bitcoin ATM → XMR Swap: Buy BTC at ATM (cash, no ID), swap to XMR via ChangeNow/FixedFloat
  4. Mining: Mine Monero directly (slow but fully anonymous)

Making Payment on Darkmatter

Step-by-Step Payment Process:

  1. Add products to cart and proceed to checkout
  2. Enter encrypted shipping address (PGP-encrypted with vendor's key)
  3. Darkmatter generates unique multisig payment address
  4. Copy the XMR address and exact amount
  5. Open your Monero wallet
  6. Send payment to provided address (exact amount)
  7. Wait for 10 blockchain confirmations (~20 minutes)
  8. Order status changes to "Paid" automatically

How Walletless Works: Your XMR goes directly to 2-of-3 multisig escrow (not held in Darkmatter's wallet). This prevents exit scams. Funds can only be released with 2 signatures: buyer+vendor, buyer+market, or vendor+market.

Monero Security Best Practices

  • Use dedicated wallet for darknet (separate from personal XMR)
  • Back up wallet seed phrase offline (write on paper, store in safe)
  • Enable wallet encryption with strong password
